About Us

2D House History

2D House was founded in 2009 by David Dvir, a Toronto-based sports photographer with a growing fascination for motion, engineering, and visual problem-solving. What began as a photography career soon expanded into motion work, where David’s passion for physics led him to create intricate Rube Goldberg machines that rapidly evolved into commercial productions. His work went on to receive recognition including Cannes Lions, Clio, and other awards, led to speaking engagements at MIT and the University of Toronto, and was featured on nationally syndicated television programs across the United States, Japan, Canada, and many more international markets.

As motion became a larger part of the business, the challenges of the local rental market became increasingly clear. To support his own shoots, David purchased a cinema camera. It did not take long for others in the industry to begin renting it as well, creating scheduling conflicts that revealed a larger opportunity. What started as a practical solution soon became the foundation for a new business. From that need, 2D House Rentals was born.
