Sony FX5

The Sony FX5 is a full-frame Cinema Line camera that records 16-bit X-OCN RAW internally and shoots full-sensor Open Gate, both firsts for the FX series. A newly developed 16.6 MP stacked Exmor RS CMOS sensor and the BIONZ XR2 processor give 15+ stops of latitude, three base ISO settings (800, 4000, 12800) and a Dual Gain Shooting mode for cleaner shadows. It records 5K up to 60 fps, 4K up to 120 fps and HD up to 240 fps, with 5-axis in-body stabilization and a 3.5" 16:9 touch monitor. 

Our kit ships with the XLR-H2 handle for 32-bit float audio, a DZOFILM Octopus Adapter II for PL lenses, a Tilta cage with a V-mount battery plate, and a USB-C to BNC timecode cable, so you can mount the camera straight onto a gimbal, car mount, or rig with cine glass. It's S-Gamut3.Cine colour matches VENICE 2 in multi-camera work, and its CineAlta-style menus match the FX6 on a shared production.

• Internal 16-bit X-OCN RAW recording
  Sony’s scene-linear RAW format, recorded in camera without an external recorder. LT, C1 and C2 codecs let you trade file size against image quality. Same format family as Burano and VENICE 2.
• Full-frame Open Gate (3:2)
  Full-sensor 5K readout at up to 60 fps in X-OCN. Reframe horizontal and vertical deliverables from one clip, or use the full sensor height with anamorphic lenses.

• High frame rates
  5K up to 60 fps, 4K up to 120 fps from a full-frame crop, HD up to 240 fps. 5K 120p and 4K 240p are planned for firmware 2.0.
• 5-axis in-body stabilization
  Optical sensor-shift stabilization with up to twice the roll correction range of the FX3. Active and Dynamic Active modes, plus stabilization metadata for post.
• AI subject recognition autofocus
  Fast Hybrid AF with up to 759 phase-detection points. Real-time Eye AF for humans, animals and birds, with Real-time Tracking.
• Anamorphic de-squeeze
  1.3x, 1.5x, 1.6x, 1.8x and 2.0x in camera.
• 3.5" 16:9 touch LCD on a 4-axis arm
  2.76 million dots. Tilts 98° up, 40° down and 180° to the side; rotates 270° when open.
• BIG6 (HOME) screen and CineAlta-style menus
  Frame rate, EI/ISO/gain, shutter, iris, LUT and white balance on one screen. Multi-function dial inherited from CineAlta cameras.
• Monitoring tools
  Waveform, histogram, false colour and focus map. Up to 16 user LUTs.
• Dual CFexpress Type A / SDXC card slots
  Relay, simultaneous and separated recording. Main and proxy files to different slots.
• Connectivity
  HDMI Type A output, two USB-C ports (timecode in through the included VMC-BNCU1 adapter cable, USB PD power), 2.5GBASE-T wired LAN, Wi-Fi 802.11ax (2.4 / 5 / 6 GHz) and Bluetooth 5.3.
• 32-bit float audio
  The included XLR-H2 handle adds two XLR/TRS inputs and records four channels at up to 96 kHz / 32-bit float. 3.5 mm mic and headphone jacks on the body.
• V-mount power
  Tilta Mini PD V-mount plate in the kit powers the camera from a V-lock brick through its 60W USB-C PD output. The plate also has P-Tap and 2-pin LEMO outputs for accessories.
• Sony E-mount, PL via adapter
  Native E-mount for Sony FE and other E-mount lenses. The kit includes a DZOFILM Octopus Adapter II for PL cine lenses.
• No built-in ND filter
  Plan on a matte box or screw-in filtration.
